Chamomile, also known as Roman Chamomile, is a perennial herb that is native to Western Europe and North Africa. It is a flower in the aster and daisy family and the national flower of Russia. Chamomile is primarily known for its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal properties. It has incredible healing properties and can help you sleep better since it is a mild tranquilizer with a sedative effect on the brain. Aside from that, this plant is also used in food flavoring, perfumes, and other cosmetic products.

Children 2-6 years:

0.25% dilution (1 drop of Chamomile oil per 4 teaspoons of carrier oil)

Children over 6 years & elderly:

1% dilution (1 drop of Chamomile oil per teaspoon of carrier oil; 6 drops per ounce)

Adults:

2% dilution (2 drops of Chamomile oil per teaspoon of carrier oil; 12 drops per ounce)

Diffusion:

Use 3-4 drops in the diffuser to spread a relaxing fragrance at home. You can also apply drops on your hand and inhale it directly. Inhaling steam from Chamomile can open sinuses and reduce symptoms of common allergies that cause congestion.

Topical:

Add 1-2 drops in a 4-ounce of water or tea.

Cautions:

  • Please consult your health care provider on essential oil use during pregnancy.
  • Dilute with a carrier oil to minimize skin sensitivity especially for babies.
  • Make sure to first do a 24-hour patch test before regular usage in case of allergic reactions.
